ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Welcome patients/visitors via phone and/or to the clinic by greeting them and attending to their inquiries.
  2. Answer and direct telephone calls appropriately.
  3. Facilitate patient satisfaction and clinic experience by directing them accordingly and accurately booking appointment(s) and process check-out and follow-up appointments if necessary.
  4. Enter, validate and update patient personal information and demographics in Electronic Health Records system accurately and as necessary.
  5. Verify and authorize insurance upon patient arrival to identify if they are covered by the appropriate center.
  6. Provide appropriate and accurate correspondence to patients in accordance with patient needs upon registration.
  7. Collect and document patient payments; demonstrate accurate credit card/cash handling procedures, according to CHSI Policy and Procedures.
  8. Respect and ensure patient privacy and confidentiality with all interactions in accordance with HIPAA and CHSI Policies and Procedures.
  9. Responsible for participating in quality improvement projects/activities and accountable for quality and PCMH.
  10. Perform all other duties as directed either formally or informally, verbally or in writing.

 

 

Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) prefer
  • Experience in the healthcare industry particularly in patient-facing tasks and/or front office duties
  • Must possess excellent customer service including verbal and written communication
  • High standard of professionalism and professional ethics and conduct is expected in speech, manner, attitude, actions and appearance at all times
  • Possess strong interpersonal and social skills and ability to work well with others
  • Adapt effectively with changing situations and stressful environments
  • Must be flexible and cross-trained in other specialty services (Family Practice, Women’s Health, Behavioral Health, Pediatrics, etc.).

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in customer service-related duties such as handling multi-line phone systems and patient scheduling preferred.
  • Experience and/or training as a Medical Assistant or Dental Assistant preferred
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office which includes Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Front office experience in a medical or dental setting preferred
