Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Dental Director, the Registered Dental Assistant assists with oral surgeries and other procedures while preparing and arranging necessary tools and instruments for scheduled procedures as well as taking, processing and developing dental Xrays.

Job Status: Full-time, Hourly Non-exempt

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Takes, processes, and develops dental x-rays.
  • Comprehends and follows oral and written directions.
  • Analyzes situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
  • Works efficiently and accurately in a fast paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Interfaces effectively in a team environment with agency staff and volunteers.
  • Handles crisis and stressful situations in an effective, calm and respectful manner.
  • Learns and use the EMR system in house, in addition to other general office computer programs.
  • Accesses patient protected health information as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Sign-on Bonus:

We are pleased to offer a sign-on bonus of $5,000 for this position. Half of the amount will be paid with your first paycheck, and half of the amount will be paid after 6 months of employment. 

Qualifications

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Must have good knowledge of dental assistant procedures; principles and methods of sterilization, proper care and use of dental instruments, equipment, and materials.
  • Ability to:
    • Interpret client files and dental charts.
    • Effectively communicate with all levels of individuals.
    • Relate to all types of individuals in a courteous non-judgmental and professional manner.
  • Proficient in verbal and written use of English grammar.
  • Bilingual/bicultural preferred.

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of high school or has a GED certificate 
  • Active California Registered Dental Assistant license 
  • Minimum of one year (1) of experience providing chair side dental assistance
  • Successful completion of Board-approved courses in radiation safety and coronal polishing
  • Board-approved course in the Dental Practice Act 
  • Board-approved course in infection control
  • Current and Valid CPR and First Aid certification (certification must be obtained through the American Heart Association. Internet certificates do not comply and for this reason are not valid).

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift 24 pounds.
  • Operates in an office setting at times and requires frequent times of sitting, standing, repetitive motion and frequent phone calls/conversations.
  • Employee does not perform or help in emergency medical care or first aid.
