What We Are Looking For
The LVN Float will travel between our Indio & Blythe Clinics. LVN will be responsible for managing patient flow and relations within designated areas. Will be assigned float to departments based on need. Performs patient-oriented procedures and tasks within the scope of their education and training. Provides nursing care to patients who present with urgent, emergent, or potential health problems; utilizes knowledge of basic nursing principles, practices, and ethics. Works under the direction of clinician or other licensed personnel.
Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 hours per day, Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm | Location: Float to Indio & Blythe Clinic CA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES
- Utilizes LVN Scope of Practice skills and knowledge to anticipate potential problems using preventative care approach. Formulates alternative solutions using effective problem-solving techniques.
- Utilizes nursing knowledge by reacting quickly, calmly, and professionally in emergent, life-threatening situations according to clinic protocol.
- Directly responsible for completion of nurse visits under direction of provider.
- Assists with directing back-office team on a day-to-day basis, ensuring job tasks are performed in a productive and high quality manner.
- Assists with back-office duties such as vitals, injections, venipuncture, or procedures ensuring appropriate collection, handling, labeling, and processing of specimens.
- Adjusts work pace when performing multiple tasks, maintains patient flow for optimal function and remains in a calm manner in a stressful environment.
- Instructs, schedules, follows up with patients regarding test result, procedures; e.g. labs, imaging ordered by physician. Notifies patient/parent of test results after physician review.
- Evaluates and documents incoming telephone calls, competently evaluates and advises under the direction of the clinician. Follows up on tests results, e.g., labs, imaging, as assigned by providers.
- Keeps up to date on all SACHS programs, e.g., VFC, CHDP, FPACT, etc. Maintains current knowledge of all documents that direct practice, e.g., policies, clinical guidelines, ancillary guidelines, etc.
- Participates in quality control functions according to SAC Health Policy and Procedures (expired meds, sterilization criteria, and weekly reports). Responsible for maintaining all back-office logs.
- Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of all patient care areas, work areas, medical equipment and supplies according to SAC Health Policy and Procedures.
- Assists with orientation of new employees, team huddles and training.
- Ability to be flexible to assist in all departmental areas when needed and travel to other clinics as necessary; must have a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, and auto insurance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited LVN program required.
- Licensure/Certification: Current, active and unrestricted LVN License required; current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required (must be American Heart Association or Red Cross accredited program), valid California driver’s license, and auto insurance is required. As a requirement of this position, you must receive EPIC certification for the module you have been hired into.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience as an LVN is preferred.
- Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Must have proficient computer skills including data entry. Must be able to use a variety of office equipment including fax machine, scanner, printer and copier, answering telephones, good digital dexterity, and hand-eye coordination to utilize assessment tools
- Interpersonal Skills: Professional and strong communication skills in difficult situations. Ability to descalate concerns. Telephone etiquette required. Bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to translate medical information. Effective communication. Team oriented.
- Essential Mental Abilities: Prioritize variety of assignments, follow moderate/complex instructions, proofread documents for content/context accuracy, recognize and appropriately report safety problems or other problem situations.
