Food insecurity has long been a leading contributor to poor health, ranging from malnourishment to disease management.  Even prior to COVID, 35 million people in the United States were food insecure.  According to the U.S. Census Household Pulse Survey, this number more than doubled during the summer with nearly 1 out of 4 households experiencing food insecurity. The repercussions are not just immediate, but long standing.  Blacks and Hispanics have been disproportionately affected, as have children. Addressing the threat of food insecurity is paramount.
