San Bernardino County is recruiting for Mail Processors who collect, sort, process and deliver mail for County departments. Duties will include operating mail equipment such as postage machines, electronic scales, and electronic accounting systems, as well as folding and labeling machines. Mail Processors may also perform courier services involving driving routes and are cross trained in both functions.
Current vacancy exists in the Purchasing Department. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill current vacancies and any future vacancies as they occur throughout the county.

 CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
License: A valid California Class C Driver License is required to carry out the essential job-related functions of this position. Mileage reimbursement and proof of automobile liability insurance must be maintained.
Background: Prior to appointment, employees must pass a background check, including DMV and meet medical standards including drug and alcohol testing.
Working Conditions: This position requires frequent moving, lifting, and carrying of items up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 70 lbs, either manually or with the aid of lifting devices, i.e. dollies and/or large carts.

Minimum Requirements

 

CANDIDATES MUST MEET ONE OF THE FOLLOWING OPTIONS:
EXPERIENCE
OPTION 1
Must possess six (6) months (full-time equivalent) experience with mail processing operations in a mail room environment that includes primary responsibility for operating mail processing equipment including postage mailing machines, to process large quantities of mail material AND/OR courier duties which involved delivery and/or pickup services for multiple daily route locations, as well as determining schedules and best route sequences.
EXPERIENCE
OPTION 2
Must possess one (1) year (full-time equivalent) experience in a customer service-related industry, such as a library, retail store, or restaurant, which involves substantial public contact on a constant basis.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
All relevant experience with mail operation processes or courier/delivery or customer service must be clearly detailed in the Work Experience section of the Application.
Option 1 Experience: Office clerical mail, public transportation or food delivery experience is not considered qualifying.
