What We Are Looking For
The Purchasing Agent is responsible for the daily activities of the Central Supply and Mail room processes. Responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of an efficient central supply chain process and infrastructure that promotes standardization, cost reduction, and improves the delivery of healthcare services. Performs manual and clerical work in receiving and checking shipments received from vendors and issuing supplies to entire facility, stocking shelves and clinic rooms, as needed. The work requires familiarity with a great variety of stock items, ability to make accurate counts in receiving and issuing, and ability to exert some physical effort. Must have computer knowledge with the ability to create and present reports. A familiarity with supply scanning systems a plus. The work is performed under general supervision and is checked by observation, physical counts, and a review of records. Other duties to be performed at the request of the Director/department head.
Schedule: 5 days per week, 8 Hours per day, Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm | Location: San Bernardino, CA
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DELIVERABLES
- Responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of an efficient central supply chain process and infrastructure that promotes standardization, cost reduction, and improves the delivery of healthcare services.
- Assure orders are correct and bills are turned in to the finance department for payment.
- Develop proposals that include documentation for estimates.
- Ability to develop, maintain and audit inventory scanning system using automated inventory system.
- Ensures availability of medical/office supplies needed; ensures prompt delivery of supplies requested.
- Ability to work within the department budget; ability to track, build, run and audit reports. Supervise Supply Chain Specialists within department.
- Negotiate, renegotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers, vendors and other representatives.
- Ensure the proper departments are charged for specific orders; prepare claims for damaged merchandise, make corrections when the wrong items are shipped.
- Prepare purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, and review and process requisitions for goods and services.
- Research and evaluate suppliers, based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability, reliability, production and distribution capabilities and suppliers reputation.
- Labels, loads and records items according to facility procedures.
- Resolves ordering issues; ability to problem solve and work independently.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Some college work a plus.
- Licensure/Certification: Valid California driver’s license, and auto insurance.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience in either purchasing, inventory management, or cost control required. Vendor contract negotiation experience required.
- Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Knowledge of resource allocation principles; basic math and accounting skills for budgeting and expenses; computer competency; strong writing skills.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills; ability to negotiate; must be able to read, analyze and interpret data; follow directions and requirements.
- Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to reason, adapt to various work environments; work independently with little supervision to set priorities and be accurate; ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Work Eligibility: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Must not now or in the future require sponsorship for employment visas.
