Workforce

Workforce

The Inland Empire AHEC facilitates advanced learning placement, such as internships for undergraduate and graduate students. Furthermore, the Inland Empire AHEC is involved in various partner collaborations that address workforce issues by targeting all levels of students and professionals including Cal-AHEC’s Statewide Program Advisory Committee (SPAC), and the Inland Health Professions Coalition (IHPC; www.inlandcoalition.org).

The Inland Empire AHEC engages in initiatives such as facilitating continued education and training opportunities, and establishing a Medical Assistants program in the inland southern region in partnership with HealthNet.

Interns

IE AHEC continuously recruits undergraduate and graduate students from local universities. IE AHEC has previously partnered with California State University San Bernardino, Health Career Connections, and Benedictine University.

Interns must be enrolled in a Public Health, Health Care Management or Health Science related program.

We also welcome volunteers!

MA UpSkilling

In fall of 2020, we initiated our MA UpSkilling program with 17 medical assistants from our member health centers. The goal of the MA UpSkilling program is to enhance the medical assistant’s skills, increase work satisfaction with the aim of decreasing turnover, and increasing an opportunity for advancement. This program is funded by HealthNet and in collaboration with CPCA, MacMan, and Medical Assistant+.

Inland Health Professions Coalition

The Inland Empire AHEC Center Director actively participates and collaborates with Inland Health Professions Coalition. The Inland Health Professions Coalition is a division of Reach Out working with industry partners, educators, and community stakeholders to address the need for a highly skilled and culturally competent health workforce in the Inland Southern California region.

IE AHEC participated in IHPC’s Annual Health Professions Conference in 2019, and serves in the planning committee for 2020.
