Since March 2020, Community Health Association Inland Southern Region sup-
ported the emerging needs of our member organizations. We quickly shifted
our focus to meet our members needs. We supported our membership in vari-
ous creative ways, with the goal of enduring the crisis together and persever-
ing. We held weekly calls with members’ leadership and Board of Directors to
address difficulties, share best practices, and collaborate. Additionally, we
hosted virtual meetings with Counties’ Departments of Public Health, sent
emails with updates, and resources, and we became a supply distribution
center for our membership.
By December 2020, the Association successfully distributed over 315,000 criti-
cal pieces of personal protective equipment. This allocation allowed our
members to serve their patients safely. The Association was also supported by
Riverside and San Bernardino Counties and received grants for our member-
ship to conduct COVID-19 testing, purchase PPE, and do education.
The pandemic brought about the emergency management initiative at the
Association and initiated a Emergency Management Learning Collabo-
rative for our membership. This collaborative brings together leadership, and
key emergency preparedness staff from our member organizations. Best
practices, management, and emergency response exercises are discussed
and strategized. This initiative has allowed us to collaborate with our sister
consortium; Health Center Partners who serves San Diego County.
This year reinforced and amplified our mission and vision statements, all our ef-
forts are prioritized with serving the safety net communities. As we move on to
2021 and beyond, we will continue to serve and support our membership with
a collaborative approach to emergency management.
