JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Senior Operations Manager, the Mobile Clinic Driver / Technician performs a range of maintenance duties for CHSI mobile clinic/s as a member of the maintenance department. Their duties include transporting the mobile clinic to and from its destination in a timely manner, general maintenance and repair of the mobile unit, facilities and applicable equipment, fixing plumbing systems, cleaning and remodeling the mobile unit, and performing repair assessments if needed.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Directly responsible for delivering ongoing excellent customer service to the population we serve.
  2. Responsible for participating in quality improvement projects/activities and accountable for quality and PCMH.
  3. Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip to locations.
  4. Adjust the route to avoid heavy traffic or road constructions, as needed.
  5. Schedule regular mobile unit service appointments and report any issues.
  6. Book car wash and detailing services to maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of the mobile unit.
  7. Inspect all community spaces daily or as assigned to identify problems with little, mechanical failure and/or breakdowns.
  8. Respond to requests for maintenance services, including replacing air filters, installing new locks and troubleshooting smoke detectors (if necessary).
  9. Repair plumbing, electrical and safety systems in the mobile unit/s as required.
  1. Conduct monthly facility audits in conjunction with planned preventive maintenance to prevent breakdowns and failures (i.e., replacing toilet and/or faucet rings, re-caulking areas as necessary, etc.).
  1. Test performance of in-unit appliances, such as refrigerators, microwaves and coffeemakers within the mobile unit.
  2. May be required to work weekends or evenings as designated.
  3. Will report direct facilities issues to the Facilities Technician and Senior Operations Manager or the person authorized.
  1. Conduct monthly facility audits in conjunction with planned preventive maintenance to prevent breakdowns and failures (i.e., replacing toilet and/or faucet rings, re-caulking areas as necessary, etc.).
  2. Safely use a variety of hand and power tools in performing duties.
  1. Wear or use appropriate safety equipment as required. Use appropriate body mechanics to ensure and injury free environment.
  2. Observes safety rules, regulations, procedures, and precautions while involved in work tasks.
  1. Assist in moving furniture and equipment at various facilities/sites.
  1. Pick up and deliver supplies and materials to the mobile clinic.
  2. Restock various buildings with janitorial supplies, as needed.
  1. Maintain a CHSI toolbox with hand and power tools designated to the mobile unit.
  2. Set up and tear down chairs, tables and equipment in inside the mobile clinic.
  3. Work with Inventory Manager to chaperone vendors who are performing work on mobile clinic.
  1. Must have the flexibility to work varied shifts as necessary and stay late, if needed and respond to calls for emergency service at various facilities.
  2. Need to maintain full communication with managers/ supervisors at all CHSI sites. Share information relevant to on-going tasks of the Facilities Department.
  3. Perform all other duties as directed either formally or informally, verbally or in writing.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Essential travel between health center locations on a regularly bases.
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 75 pounds consistently with heavier weight necessary at times.
  • Possesses strong Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently
  • Basic working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, electrical equipment is essential
  • Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office suite products, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Must have clean driving record, reliable vehicle, current CA driver license (Class C) and automobile insurance.
  • High school graduate or GED
  • Previous experience working as a maintenance worker or handyman preferred.
  • Basic mechanic experience.

 

  • Basic electrical maintenance experience.
  • Basic plumbing experience.
  • Basic carpentry experience.
